Visit to the DAF Plant: VILIA Added 6 Trucks to Its Fleet

Representatives from VILIA’s Freight Transport Department visited the DAF plant in the Netherlands, where they familiarized themselves with the full truck production cycle, test-drove diesel and electric models, and explored cutting-edge logistics solutions. VILIA’s collaboration with DAF has been ongoing since 2016—that’s when the company purchased its first tractors from this manufacturer. Since then, the partnership has continued to grow, ranging from test drives to a strategic fleet renewal.

“DAF recently offered us the opportunity to test a new tractor-trailer. Based on the results of testing on the Odesa route (with loads in both directions), we achieved the following fuel consumption figure: 24.2 liters per 100 km. This became a key factor in favor of continuing our collaboration,” the team members share.

This time, the VILIA team received an invitation from their partner to visit DAF’s manufacturing facilities in Eindhoven.

“At the plant, we saw the full truck assembly cycle—from components to the finished vehicle. The level of automation is impressive: most processes are robotized, but key stages—such as the installation of wiring or pneumatic systems—are performed by people. And this makes sense—there are things that people do best,” the trip participants explain.

The delegation paid special attention to the logistics processes involved in production.

“DAF has an extremely efficient logistics system: components don’t sit in warehouses but go straight onto the assembly line. This is an example of systematic organization that’s worth emulating.”

During the visit, the team also learned about the electric truck division—one of DAF’s key areas of focus.

“We tested the electric trucks on the track alongside instructors. These vehicles have a range of up to 500 km, depending on the configuration. This is an interesting and promising area that we’re already beginning to consider for ourselves, although it requires detailed logistics planning.”

Following the trip, VILIA updated its fleet—the company purchased six more new Euro 6-compliant DAF trucks. As of today, the company’s fleet consists of 135 trucks.
